Getting to Venice

As one of the most popular cities in Italy for travelers and tourists to visit, Venice is easily accessible and there are many ways that you can get into the city from all areas. Whether you are coming from elsewhere in Italy, Europe, or anywhere in the world, you'll be able to find the best transportation for your situation when traveling to Venice.

By Plane
There are two airports nearby to Venice, Marco Polo Airport and The Treviso Airport. Marco Polo Airport has flights to and from destinations all over the world, including cities throughout Europe and the United States. The Treviso Airport is a bit smaller, but many of the discount airlines in Europe, such as RyanAir, arrive at this airport. Once you arrive at the airport you can get into Venice by taking a bus or taxi.

By Train
If you are arriving for a major city in Europe, there is a good chance that you'll be able to get a direct train into Venice. Paris, Munich, Budapest, Vienna, as well as a few others all have trains that travel to Venice. There are also trains from other parts of Italy that you can take to get into Venice. The Venezia - Santa Lucia train station is on the west side of Venice and your best bet for traveling into the city by train. Once you arrive you can walk to the center of the city or take one of the water taxis to various destinations.

By Boat
Visitors that are coming from Greece may have the option to travel to Venice by boat. There are multiple ferries between Venice and Greece that arrive at Stazione Marittima. From there you can get into the center of Venice by taking a taxi or water taxi.

By Car
It is possible to drive to the Venice area by car, but once you arrive you'll have to park outside of the city, as there are no roads once you get past the entrance to Venice. There are expensive car parks in Venice, or else you can choose to use a car park on the mainland and find transportation into Venice by way of taxi, bus, or water taxi.
